Well, friends, it’s the final week of The Glass Desk Book Study!
I hope that each of you has enjoyed reading through the book. It has blessed me to share additional thoughts on each chapter and spend time with you. I appreciate each of you who have sent emails with your stories, testimonies, and encouragements.
I love hearing God receive glory for the works He is doing in your lives.
This last chapter – gosh, I cry every time I read it. It takes me back to the day the Lord birthed my glass desk. It’s the shortest chapter, the last chapter, and my favorite chapter.
We don’t always know God’s plans. As I say in the book, and as we hear repeatedly, “His ways are not our ways.” Given that it is currently the year 2020, I think we can ALL agree that His ways are not our ways.
To those in the future – you’ll probably have an entire semester of history class dedicated to learning about 2020.
You’re welcome.
We would never choose for 2020 to be the way it has been, and yet, He is still on the throne, and His plans prevail. In our tears, our hurts, and our failures, He reigns supreme. Our race may not start the way we thought it would, and there are some rest stops that, had we had enough fuel, we would have passed right on by.
But God.
But God takes all those unplanned pieces; all those undesired rest stops and uses them to construct a beautiful life that reflects His redemption.
The common phrase used is “beauty for ashes.” We have a God who will take our pieces of heartache and will rework them into some of the greatest blessings of our entire lives. I know this because I have experienced it firsthand.
The desk I’m sitting at right now is compiled of many different pieces of heartache. Heartache and trial that He turned into a blessing, and adventure, I NEVER could have dreamed.
The Glass Desk book started as a prayer written from a place of pain. I was crying out to God, and in that moment of agony, He ignited something. He ignited a flame that He would fan into a book, a blog, and so much more.
Let Him burn up all those areas of your life that are full of disappointment, pain, and lack. After the refining process is complete, you will see Him use the ashes in ways you never expected.
Let me know what you think of the questions below.
1. What distractions are keeping you from taking notice of Jesus’ redemption in your life?
2. How can you position your heart to receive His redemption anew each day?
Happy reading, friends!
